Fishing rules for lake Sommen
Rules
§ 1 Scope
The rules are governing fishing in the lake, across the lake along with some parts of the Bulsjö river up to the hydroelectric dam at the eastern lake.
§2 Protection season, September 16 to December 31.
Fishing for trout and char is allowed from 1 January to 15 September in the entire lake. If any of these species are caught during the closed season they must be re-released into the lake, regardless of their condition.
Fish that are put back into the should be kept in sumps, in a tub or similar, five minutes before being put back.
§3 Closed areas
During the period from September 16 to December 31, all fishing is prohibited in closed areas 1-4 (Map 1). Furthermore, only hand held fishing gear and "angel" allowed in area 5 during the closed period (Map 1).
Fishing for trout and char with mass catching tools, such as nets, is prohibited during the period April 15 to May 15 on smelt ("Nors") spawning areas marked on the map. An exemption is handheld tools and nets with mesh sizes below 21 mm, mesh poles to catch smelt, and other typical methods to catch smelt, for example, "not".
Ban on use of the amount of catching gear (nets) at depths of 25 meters during the period 15 June to 15 September. Valid throughout the lake.
All fishing is prohibited within the closed area in Bulsjö river, the entire route in accordance with § 1 throughout the year.
In addition to the above, pay attention to bird protection closed. The protection zone for public access is a distance of 100 meters from the shore line during the period April 1 to July 10.
§ 4 Minimum size
Fish above the minimum sizes listed below may be kept. The measurements are from the nose to the end of the tail tip.
* Trout 60 cm
* Char 60 cm
* Pike 40 cm
* Zander 40 cm
* Eel 60cm
Any caught fish that is below the current minimum size shall be immediately released at the lake. Fish that are put back into the should be kept in sumps, in a tub or similar, five minutes before being put back.
§ 5 Prohibited fishing methods
The fishing may not use a hook tool that is adapted to hook into the fish. The rules do not prohibit the use of a grab hook to grab fish that was caught by other fishing gear.
Also, the following fishing tools are prohibited:
* Net higher than 10 feet, except nets with mesh sizes smaller than 21 mm.
* Floating nets
* Floating lines with hooks
* The "Ytutter" and "lodutter" tools.
§ 6 Labelling and marking of fishing gear
Any fishing gear put into the water such as nets, traps, etc, should be clearly marked with buoys plus a red pennant with a clear visible height of 50 cm above the water surface. Gill nets shall be marked at both ends so that its route is clearly visible. The gear shall be marked with the owner's name, address and phone number, along with a full property identification. The label must be clearly visible and easy to read.
§ 7 Fishing tenure
The Sommen Fiskevårdsområde has the right to allow others to fish by selling fishing licenses. Fishing licences beyond lure fishing can only be done by each water right owner. Provisions for lure fishing is stated in the permit, which is an extract of these provisions. There are specifications for which area(s) the fishing is permitted.
Sommen FVO have the opportunity to write specific written agreements with active fishing clubs in the lake for the purpose of lure fishing.
§ 8 Crayfish
The Sommenm FVO recommends a fishing time from August 1 to September 30. Putting new crayfish into the water from other areas is not allowed unless approved by the authorities. Fishing for crayfish is exempted from any fishing bans in all protection areas.
§ 9 Requirement to inform about new fish / crayfish
Sommen FVO shall be given written information before any live fish or crayfish are added to the lake. This is also true for fish cage farming. In case of informing the Sommen FVO, supplier and source water, type of fish/crayfish, quantity and time of delivery, and copy a clinic inspection shall be provided. This does not remove the obligation to seek authorization from the appropriate authority.
§ 10 Fixed gear and nets
Consultation and notification requirements to the Board of the Sommen FVO is required when fixed gear is put into the water that has any part of it higher than 4 feet, or which can be a barrier to boat traffic.
Supervision and removal of fish from the tools shall be done every three days or, and in warmer waters, more frequently.
§ 11 Amendments and additions
Changes in these rules can only be done by resolution in the Sommen Fiskevårdsområde.
Exemptions from these rules may be submitted by the board of the local government (The "Länsstyrelse")
In addition to national fishing regulations apply rules described below when fishing in the Sommen Fiskevårdsområde as of 2004-01-01.
